Drupal 9

Are you looking, as I was, for a Blank Theme or Starter Theme for Drupal to build your own theme from it ? Back in the day, CMS provided such themes as such, with a download. This, as many other things, has changed.

Running a php command now generates a blank theme:

Bad luck, I guess, for CMS sitebuilders who don't have a local development environment.

Had the idea while swimming in the pool today: "how cool could it be to use Webform's UI on content creation forms ?"

Then I searched for a module and found it:

I regularly scan the web for more Drupal modules that add functionality that I might need.

Great reference document, I saved this to a Word document and also put the URL here so I find it easily again.

there's a part 2 to my dream to be a Drupal dev - the previous installment was about creating patches, but the new recommended way of contributing code to Drupal is to create an issue fork and create a merge request.

As usual, documentation on Drupal.org for doing that is poor, and I spent hours to figure out how to get it done.

here are my steps:

Open an issue and describe what you want to do
Click "request push access"

Okay, discovered this by chance today.

I wanted to go and update this Drupal 9 site, core and modules, did a backup, logged in to SSH, tried "composer update", and dang, error, CLI runs 7.2 but 7.3 is needed.

okay, went to the Plesk hosting control panel to check if I could tweak the CLI PHP version, and then I saw in my domain, a new icon: "PHP composer"

intrigued, clicked on it, and lo and behold, it recognized my composer installation of Drupal 9, all modules, identified needed updates and even gives me the option to modify my composer.json

I'm now trying to leverage composer as much as possible to avoid PITA-manual installations.

Webform is a very important Drupal module, but installing the libraries has always been a PITA.
