Installing node.js and npm on Windows 10

Download and install from this site:

https://nodejs.org/en/download/

followed all steps, powershell windows stays open for a long time with nothing happening.

... waiting ... I closed wamp64 server to see if it helps...

3 minutes later, powershell window comes to life and finishes installation. hm.

also installs a ton of other stuff, such as:
- chocolatey (?)
- python
- visualstudio build tools
 

after installation, exit my command window and re-open. typing in npm -v and node -v  give back version numbers. ok. seems to be working.

to update, just re-download and reinstall.
